World Knowledge Dialogue
September 2006
Despite numerous individual attempts by internationally recognized scholars, the gap between the natural sciences and the human/social sciences (the humanities) remains a major obstacle in our global and comprehensive understanding of the world. Our time is nonetheless propitious for bringing again these two cultures closer together, since both domains show today many signs of concordance and cross-fertilization. The Swiss university system – with its long standing international reputation in education and science – is trying to meet anew this challenge to bridge the gap by creating the Foundation and the project World Knowledge Dialogue – Towards a modern humanism.
