Researchers from EPFL and MIT bring daylight to building bowels even on cloudy days.
Meeting of the (EPFL) Minds
Bay Area EPFL alumni were treated to a special get-together on February 16, 2010, with renowned Prof. Jean-Louis Scartezzini and Dr. Mirjam Münch, of the Solar Energy and Building Physics Laboratory at EPFL, and Maryline Andersen, associate professor at MIT in the School of Architecture and Planning. The three—all of whom either work or studied at EPFL—were on hand at swissnex San Francisco to speak at the event, Light Beyond Vision, an exploration of how the buildings we inhabit could take advantage of daylight to keep occupants comfortable and healthy and to optimize energy efficiency.
Simon Lépine of EPFL-A3, along with swissnex San Francisco, organized the pre-event gathering, where former students and friends of EPFL got the chance to mingle, share memories, make new connections, and talk with the researchers before the doors opened to the public.
