About Us

swissnex San Francisco strives to advance new ideas and international collaboration for the benefit of societies.

swissnex San Francisco, located at Pier 17, is part of the global swissnex Network for international collaboration. Our mission is to connect people and ideas from Switzerland and the San Francisco Bay Area to foster exchange in research, education, innovation, and the arts. Inspiring collaboration across disciplines, industry, and borders, we host universities, startups, corporates, artists, and designers. As convener, facilitator, and curator, we program a range of events, workshops, conferences, exhibitions, and innovation exchanges that explore the ideas and issues that shape our society.

swissnex Global Network Mission

swissnex is the Swiss global network connecting the dots in education, research, and innovation. Our mission is to support the outreach and active engagement of our partners in the international exchange of knowledge, ideas and talent. Together with around twenty Science and Technology Offices (STO) and Counselors (STC) based in Swiss Embassies, they contribute to strengthen Switzerland’s profile as a world-leading innovation hotspot.

The core values of the swissnex network consists of:

  • connecting its partners to thriving innovation ecosystems worldwide,
  • advising on trends and opportunities in science, education and technology,
  • promoting the visibility of Swiss higher education and research institutions, start-ups and other innovation-driven partner organizations.
  • inspiring new ideas by promoting knowledge exchange.

The swissnex Network collaborates with a broad spectrum of partners related to international research and innovation, supporting them in their outreach and active engagement in the global exchange of knowledge, ideas and talent. These primarily include:

  • Higher education and research institutions
  • Governmental and publicly funded institutions
