Event Details

This is an online competition with related events in San Francisco and Switzerland.

June 01, 2013 - September 01, 2013

What is your vision of the future? To celebrate its 10th Anniversary, swissnex San Francisco invites creative students in Switzerland to use transmedia to imagine the future by telling a story set ten years from now, in 2023.

Transmedia, or multi-platform storytelling, enables a tale to go beyond the pages of a book or the screen of a TV. Using text, games, audio, video, interactive experiences, physical and live events, and social media, each platform is a standalone narrative in a unified story world, all working together to enrich the experience and deepen engagement.

STORY2023 is a transmedia competition specifically for students of Swiss Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences. Participants are encouraged to take on the challenge in teams (up to 3) or as individuals. The competition is interdisciplinary and educational; it is open to all eligible students with a vision of the future, from transmedia experts to first-timers.

An international jury of acclaimed professionals will select the best story. Winners will travel to San Francisco for a week, enjoy a tailor-made program with targeted professionals, and see their work showcased in Swiss and Bay Area venues.

Transmedia curious? Stay tuned! Full information available June 1, 2013. Projects are due by August 31, 2013.

This event is supported by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, the Gebert Rüf Foundation and Swisscom.
