For the first time in 10 years due to the current pandemic, the swissnex Startup Bootcamp is taking place virtually, making our Demo Day available for audiences worldwide. The participating Swiss startups are part of the Innosuisse Internationalization Camp, and will attend our two-week Virtual Startup Bootcamp this May. Join us online for virtual demos, pitches, networking, and a unique opportunity to gain insights into Switzerland’s strong startup ecosystem.

Anne Cocquyt

Anne Cocquyt, originally from Stuttgart, Germany, is a serial entrepreneur and super connector in Silicon Valley. After building partnerships for Genentech’s innovation team, she founded her own startups, and serves as an advisor to tech startups, angel investors, funds and corporate innovators. She advised and judged Stanford’s StartX acceleration program, RockHealth, Startup Health, French startup hubs, angel groups and mentors at the German American Accelerator, Singularity University, and University of San Francisco. Anne advises a cancer care coordination startup, a change catalyst think tank and a STEM media company. She launched and raised funding for startups in a wide variety of industries from art to consumer products and technology and exited a startup in 2015. She is the founder of the GUILD (letsguild.com), the first AI-driven community engagement platform for entrepreneurs and leaders.The GUILD launched the first global entrepreneurship program focused on changing the odds for female entrepreneurs by connecting them to entrepreneurs, world experts and their community of 20,000 entrepreneurs, investors and innovators (letsguildacademy.com).

Brian Bordley

Brian Bordley is a startup operator turned venture capitalist. He has spent time in business roles at various startups (TechValidate, Marqeta, Remeeting), including time as a founder of a 3D printing company, Eucl3D, that went through Berkeley SkyDeck Accelerator in 2015. As an investor in SkyDeck, he has completed over 100 investments and has helped dozens of its portfolio companies go to market and raise follow-on venture capital.

 


Julie Maples

Julie is Co-Founder and General Partner at FYRFLY Venture Partners, an early stage venture fund based in San Francisco with focused investments in data and intelligence. She brings over 20 years of venture experience as both an investor and operator. She has a strong background of early investments in SaaS, Internet infrastructure and B2B companies that use data and intelligence to reinvent industries – and a long history of accelerating value by connecting start-ups to an extensive network of corporate partners, follow-on investors, academic talent, and resources across technology, media and sports. As one of the first female VCs in technology, Julie has decades of experience looking outside of Silicon Valley to invest in diverse teams and emerging tech hubs. She previously founded Constantin Partners, a seed stage investment fund, and served as Director of the Internet Initiative for PFI, a telecommunications start-up which built fiber optic networks in 14 cities. Julie currently sits on the Board of several technology companies and on the National Board of The V Foundation for Cancer Research, an organization that was started by Jimmy Valvano and ESPN in 1993. She is the Founder and Chair of The V Foundation Wine Celebration, a charity wine auction which has raised over $115M for cancer research to date. Julie holds an MBA in Finance and a BS in Entrepreneurial and Strategic Management from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Richard Pivnicka

Hon. Richard Pivnicka, was named Honorary Consul General of the Czech Republic in 1994, founded CzechTech, a tech people and VC network in Silicon Valley, which was awarded the Czernin Palace bronze medal by the Czech government (www.czech-tech.net). In 2012, he received his first patent and is currently engaged as an advisor to international venture capital funds and start-ups. He is a frequent speaker and judge at business plan competitions, both in the Bay Area and in Europe. He served as Vice President and General Counsel for Gerson Bakar & Associates for over two decades and is currently a Member of its Board of Directors and its Legal Advisor. The firm is one of the largest developers, owners, and managers of a diversified billion-dollar portfolio of residential, office, and retail properties, which included Levi’s Plaza World Headquarters in San Francisco and Carmel Plaza Shopping Center. He and his wife Barbara founded Atherton Heritage LLC, an enterprise dedicated to the acquisition, restoration, and sale of significant historic homes. Their restoration of the Mark Hopkins Family Mansion in Atherton, California, received the California Heritage Council’s Award and was selected the Decorators Showhouse. Subsequently, their project, located in San Francisco’s Presidio Heights, was selected as the San Francisco Decorator Showcase house. He holds a BA in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame, an MBA in Finance from New York University, and a JD from the University of San Francisco, where he served on the Law Review. Mr. Pivnicka served in the US Marine Corps Reserves and has been active in numerous international, national and community organizations. Mr. Pivnicka is active in Bay Area and Silicon Valley General Counsel Groups, and is the Vice Chairman and Trustee Emeritus of the Djerassi Resident Artists Program. For over 20 years he has been a Member of the Board of Governors of the Commonwealth Club, the nation’s oldest and largest public affairs forum, where he is currently an Advisory Board Member. He is a sculptor, swimmer, author, documentary film producer and mentor.  A 22-year Woodside resident, he grows and produces wine on his property — “Bohemia” was named a 2014 award winner in the Golden Gate Wine Society Competition.
