The Book Lab
An experimental journey probing the role of books in the digital era.
San Francisco, CA – From digitalization to how fonts are used, swissnex San Francisco’s exhibition The Book Lab showcases nine projects born in Swiss, Californian, and French higher education institutions that all probe the next chapter for the book.
Beginning Tuesday, October 22nd, 2012, take an experimental journey from paper to code. Imagine tools that infuse familiar books with complex visualizations and generative designs. Investigate an artist’s creative practice with a digital pen, dive into transmedia tales of Zurich at night, and much much more.
This exhibition is part of Futures of the Book, a week of discussions about reading and writing in the digital age. Futures of the Book is a partnership between the Berkeley Center for New Media, the Books in Browsers conference, the Cultural Services of the French Embassy in the United States, the Goethe Institute, and swissnex San Francisco.
