From Switzerland to Silicon Valley: Launching Swiss Entrepreneurs

September 23, 2019.

It’s a wrap! The latest group of Swiss startups traveled to Silicon Valley as part of the swissnex Startup Bootcamp last month. The camp was packed with networking, and sessions with experts such as Lea Von Bidder of Ava, Nathan Gold – a startup pitch coach, Matteo Fabiano of FireMatter, and Pierre Zado of Plug & Play on how to monetize innovation, how to pitch and leverage storytelling, how to fundraise in the US, and how to enhance your product and engage partners long term.

The swissnex Demo Night featured a large Silicon Valley audience and an expert Judge panel including Pearly Chen, Vice President at HTC, Sophie Lamparter co-founder of DART Labs, Beth Rogozinski Founder and CEO of Signal 2 Health, and Elan Tye an investor with JAZZ Venture Partners, and gave startups the unique opportunity to pitch and show their technology at their demo booths after the presentation.

Holo|one, a mixed reality (MR) startup (pictured above), that helps companies unleash the unexploited potential to increase productivity, won first place at the demo night. Frank Hasler of Holo|one says “The overall experience when working from Pier 17 is absolutely gorgeous.” The prize is 6 months of office space usage at swissnex SF at Pier 17. You can check out photos from the night here.

Another camp participant, Timothée Duran, of Pindex, describes their experience as “The outcome was 10 times more than I expected. It made us rethink the project, think about scale, financing, changed the way to pitch, network, etc… There are no words to explain all I learned from this bootcamp. It’s a mix of hard skills, soft skills and most importantly, motivation.”

Apply for the next Startup Bootcamp, taking place from January 13-24, 2020! Deadline to apply is October 30, 2019. Space is limited.
