Competition for Swiss Games
Text by Kassandra Bucher
Calling all Swiss game designers: Now is your chance to win a month-long residency at swissnex San Francisco and present at the prestigious Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco in March, 2015.
After two successful editions, which enabled the funding of 14 Swiss videogames, this year’s Call for Projects: Swiss Game 2014/2015 is a collaboration between the LUDICIOUS Zurich Game Festival, Pro Helvetia, the Foundation SUISA, and swissnex San Francisco.
swissnex San Francisco and Pro Helvetia are committed to building the Swiss game design community in North America and across the globe, and we’ve done a lot together over the years to highlight Swiss game design. Now, we’re taking it a step further and sponsoring the grand prize in the Call for Projects.
The third such open call, this year’s winners will receive cash prizes up to CHF 50,000, and get access to coaching by international experts as well as targeted promotion of their products. The most promising Swiss game designer wins a four-week startup booster program with swissnex San Francisco and the chance to present during GDC.
The Jury of the competition will be led by Ru Weerasuriya, co-founder of Ready at Dawn Studios and member of the GDC advisory board. Weerasuriya, who has worked on titles like World of Warcraft, has shared his expertise at previous swissnex San Francisco events including Gamer Gazer and the Swiss Game Design Opening Reception.
The deadline to submit a project is December 21, 2014, and the winner will be announced by March 1, 2015.
