It all starts with fondue, of course. Nine participants from across the US working in the energy field, from academia to public policy to industry, arrive in Switzerland on May 2nd for a week of meetings and site visits exploring Switzerland’s renewable energy sector. Their first stop is at a Swiss restaurant for a get-to-know-each-other dinner of cheese, cheese, and more cheese. From there, though, they visit the Swiss Federal Office of Energy, Swiss Solar Systems, a waste management company, an electric bicycle plant, the Energy Science Centre at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ), the Ecopark in Neuchâtel, and much more.
The week of diverse programming allows the delegation and their Swiss counterparts to exchange knowledge, network, and connect dots in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency. For the US participants, it’s a chance to understand why Switzerland recently ranked number two in Yale’s Environmental Performance Index (EPI).
The tour is co-organized by swissnex San Francisco and sponsored by Presence Switzerland and their US program, “ThinkSwiss – Brainstorm the future,” which aims to promote Switzerland in science, innovation, and education.
