ReMeeting Wins Grand Prize in Startup Competition
Text by Fanny Honegger, Junior Communications Manager, swissnex San Francisco
Record your meeting and archive it in the cloud. Sounds nice but not that innovative, right? What about this: Machine algorithms will automatically analyze and summarize your meeting, identify speakers and topics and even the structure of your meeting, and give you keywords that are searchable. That’s what Swiss startup ReMeeting has planned. And on April 24, 2014, the judges of the UC Berkeley Startup Competition (LAUNCH) awarded the team the Grand Prize (and $20,000) for their vision.
The ReMeeting team—Arlo Faria, PhD, Korbinian Riedhammer, PhD, Erika Pfaffen, MBA, and David Imseng, PhD—is academically specialized in fields like automatic speech recognition and spoken language understanding, spoken keyword search, speaker identification and linking, as well as multilingual speech recognition, deep neural networks and faster-than-real-time implementations. They beat out more than 200 University-affiliated early stage startups at LAUNCH.
ReMeeting is enrolled in swissnex San Francisco’s Startup Booster program, seeking market validation for their product. Last year, they attended a pitch training with one of swissnex San Francisco’s experts, Nathan Gold. “Nathan was enthusiastic about our product and gave very helpful comments on the presentation,” says Arlo Faria, CEO of ReMeeting.
We congratulate ReMeeting for their success and are happy to have them here at swissnex San Francisco!
