As Roman Klingler’s three-month sabbatical at swissnex San Francisco draws to an end, he returns to his post as head of Media Relations at ETH Zurich with renewed inspiration.
Klingler worked alongside swissnex staff in our open office environment and made valuable connections with his counterparts at Stanford University, UC Berkeley, and Caltech in Southern California. He attended conferences and met with local players in the media, and he experimented with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and other social channels, logging his experiences in ETH Life.
In the same publication, Klingler profiles swissnex San Francisco founder and director, Christian Simm, describing him as a hyphen if he were to have a punctuation avatar. “Wherever he has worked in the past twenty years, he has networked, connected, and brought people and ideas together,” Klingler writes of Simm.
In a video interview with Klingler before leaving San Francisco, he recounts some of the highlights of his stay: meetings at universities, co-organizing an event at swissnex on Disney Research Zurich, being surrounded by the Bay Area’s “spirit of innovation,” and catching a show at Yoshi’s jazz club.
