Swiss-US Energy Innovation Days in Austin, Texas

October 15, 2019.

The Swiss Federal Office of Energy’s 6th edition of the Swiss-US Energy Innovation Days (SUEID) took place last week. For two and a half days, 100 participants followed a jam packed schedule consisting of over 70 speakers at five sites across two cities, and a startup pitch night. This year the program returned to the USA and was hosted by the State Energy Conservation Office (SECO) of Texas who guided the group through the renewable energy ecosystem of the Austin and San Antonio area.

While Texas has always been a mecca for oil and gas energy, its enormous potential for solar and wind energy combined with a burgeoning tech hub in Austin has resulted in a wealth of innovative technologies and policies in renewable energy and green technologies. The SUEID delegation, consisting of individuals from government, academia and industry from both sides of the Atlantic, had the opportunity to learn from these innovations as well as share their own, resulting in a rigorous exchange to address some of the most pressing issues facing our society today.
