The Digital Campus is a program led by swissnex San Francisco, aimed to provide Swiss higher education institutions with the latest knowledge and best practices on how to leverage new technologies for the benefits of their institution.
Customized High-Value Services
The program provides institutions with tools and access to resources, regular, in-depth reports about the institution’s activity on social media, admission to an annual symposium, the option to participate in study tours to the Silicon Valley, tailored training and consulting, and many other exclusive components.
Gateway to Silicon Valley
swissnex San Francisco’s proximity to the Silicon Valley, the birthplace of new technologies, puts it at the epicenter of cutting-edge innovations. This ability to identify future trends, together with a large and valuable network of contacts, allows to deliver a top-notch program, tailored to the needs and challenges of Swiss academia.
Unique Community in Switzerland
The program is an evolution of Swiss Academia and the Social Media Landscape, a swissnex San Francisco initiative that spanned over two years and started in early 2011. The participation of all 12 Swiss universities, the majority of the universities of applied sciences, and many federal research institutes has allowed it to build a community of higher education communicators that is unique in Switzerland.
Initially supported by the Gebert Rüf Stiftung, the program is now entirely funded by the 15 participating institutions with support by the Swiss State Secretariat for Education, Research, and Innovation (SERI).

Study Tour 2018
Members of the Digital Campus can participate in the annual study tour in the Bay Area. This year, we are excited to host the study tour alongside the Storytelling Lab, a two-week interactive program to explore the future of storytelling.
The Digital Campus Study Tour will take place in the first week of the Storytelling Lab, from November 5-9, 2018 and applications are now open until September 23, 2018.
Who is it for? Anyone working in communications at one of the participating Digital Campus Institutions (see above)
What are the costs? The participation fee is CHF 800 and participants also cover their own transportation, accommodation and meals. There is one travel stipend available for anyone with limited funds (applicants can apply for it in the study tour application form).
When does it take place? The study tour takes place from Monday, November 5, to Friday, November 9, 2018. You must be able to attend all days to be accepted for the study tour. We suggest to arrive the Saturday before the study tour to give yourself some time to adjust to the time difference (9 hours).
What are the requirements? Participants must work in communications for a Swiss higher education institution that is participating in the Digital Campus. Furthermore, each participant has to be able to prepare a “story” from their institution ahead of time and bring it to the study tour to refine it. This story can be a specific story for a campaign, one or more meaningful messages around the institution that provide content for the communications strategy, or just a few examples of how your institution differentiates itself from others with its unique brand.
